Alana Greco
Background and Practice
Alana is a Clinical Psychologist with a strong foundation in the multifaceted nature of working with adolescents, adults, parents and families.
Alana began her career working with adolescents and young people in a community based setting, as well as in an online environment. It was here that Alana realised how passionate she was about working with young people and helping them to effectively transition through this difficult developmental stage in today’s pressured world.
From here Alana spent four years working with children, young people and their parents and families in a high-risk Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). During this time, Alana gained significant experience conducting clinical assessments and providing therapy to individuals presenting with acute and chronic mental health concerns.
Alana then embarked upon on her own parenting journey and through this experience, developed a passion for working with expectant and new parents experiencing mental health difficulties.
Alana has now moved her focus to private practice where she maintains a special interest in the treatment of adolescent mental health and the mental health of mothers and fathers in the perinatal period. Alana also currently works with parents and parents-to-be at the Parent Infant Research Institute (PIRI) where she is engaged in research for the treatment of depression in the antenatal period.
Therapeutic Approach
Alana provides a supportive and empowering therapeutic environment for her clients and her approach to therapy is primarily informed by psychodynamic, humanistic and cognitive behavioural theories.
